As the New Year has already begun, we are in the more stabilizing time of Capricorn, a dependable earth sign under the ruler ship of no-nonsense Saturn, the planet of form, authority, and quiet determination to reach all goals with dignity and grace.

We enter Capricorn at Winter Solstice, and in the northern hemisphere we enter the time of winter, snow, ice, and colder temperatures.  There is a natural tendency to hibernate during the winter intensity, to pull our scattered selves back into order, to review the holiday spending, to consider budgets for the year, and to be in a reflective and responsible mode.

Capricorn is one of the signs of the zodiac that moves us toward goals, physical and spiritual. In the Wisdom Teachings, Capricorn can be a doorway to higher consciousness and fuller awareness of ourselves as an initiate following a dedicated path.

We often find Capricorn’s in business, and government, places where foundation and consistency are needed. Capricorn is a feminine sign because it is an earth sign, and in today’s world of change, we are witnessing women within these careers, often Capricorn’s themselves, lending their strength of purpose, loyalty to ideals, and holding a vision of a more positive future for all.

Within this sign, one of the contemporary people with a Capricorn birth sign was Martin Luther King, who became a fallen hero for civil rights, the elimination of segregation, and integration of schools in the South. Many of his speeches continue to uplift and inspire, including the “I Have a Dream” Speech which is now memorialized for its ability to stir heart and mind and spirit to “let Freedom Ring”.

The power within Capricorn is not as obvious as in fire signs, however, its very quietness prevails until the goal is reached.  There are several symbols for Capricorn, the mountain goat who carefully treads a steep path of obstacles to reach the mountain top of success  The next symbol is the  alligator who has become adept at living both in the world of emotions (it’s watery home), and the and the world of practicality.  The final symbol is the Unicorn, the person who has learned through trials and tribulations to seek the higher way with the strength of mind and heart in greater harmony, whose insights are harmless, whose vision is clear and dauntless.  The Unicorn is considered the magical horse that   appears when there are enough people who can carry the vision of a peace-filled, non-violent world, a world still in the making. Holding that Unicorn ideal is what a Capricorn sun sign, moon sign, or Ascendant can do at this time of important transitions.

Each of us carries a part of the Capricorn energy of perseverance and inner strength. That will guide us towards the future with the stability of earth to build the new vision, the “promised land”.

The sign of Sagittarius always occurs between the major American holidays of Thanks giving and Christmas, and how appropriate that is. This third fire sign of the zodiac is one of the most energizing, exuberant, positive, and inspiring signs of the celestial family. Sag, as it is fondly called, is under the ruler ship of the planet Jupiter, the great benefic which governs joviality, generosity, social events, good fortune, and spiritual and religious faith and beliefs. In the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, family events, parties, shopping, gatherings for spiritual and social reasons abound. We loosen our purse strings to purchase gifts, plan parties with food and beverages, give with open hearts to worthy causes and charities, and feel the fullness of caring and love for each other, and the well-being of humanity.

We recall the stories of magical events which speak to our core beliefs. The human heart yearns to be inspired from the ordinary events of earthly life, to stretch towards the heavens and connect to holy ones who teach us to love each other, to be kind and generous, as the benevolent universe so loves each of us. These stories have prevailed through eons of time, with different names, in different localities, but always in spoken language, in music, and in art to give meaning to human experience, and to link our lives to a greater source of wisdom and love. And so it is in Sag that we have the holy days and stories of many religions, going back in time to pre-Christian eras.  Humanity continues its search for meaning, and to be participants in the great plan.

From these beliefs and stories have emerged our understanding of angelic realms, transcendent music, and dedication to a higher state of being through love and compassion.  These are motivations that Sagittarius brings to us each year. The ideal which motivates Sagittarius is “I see the goal. I reach the goal. And I see another.” During the allotted days of Sagittarius, the daylight diminishes, darkness comes upon us, and we are drawn inwardly to the great mystery of the Winter Solstice. Winter Solstice is the doorway into Capricorn, a more serious pattern of energy as we have reached the beginning of winter.

Winter Solstice is the day of shortest sunlight, of the longest darkness. The meaning of solstice is “the sun stands still,” and for three days there is longer darkness than light before we begin to turn towards the return of greater light. In ancient times huge trees burned to illuminate the darkness. As the flowers and plants had died, tall evergreen trees were brought inside to bring nature closer. Wreaths and garlands of living trees and vines decorated cold interiors. Yul was celebrated with the yule log to keep spirits uplifted. Our beloved holiday transitions have ancient roots.

For many in our busy world, Winter Solstice provides a time of inner peace, spiritual renewal, and a prelude for the holiday season of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years. Christmas Day begins the Twelve Days of Christmas, which conclude on Twelfth Night, now known as Epiphany, commemorating the arrival of the Three Kings. December 21, Winter Solstice, is an important day for the emotional level of each of us. It is from the feminine, the sensitive emotional level, that the Spirit of Love can enter in to transform old patterns into new beginnings. Fill your hearts and minds with “glad tidings of great joy” and “Silent Night, Holy Night, All is Calm, All is Bright.” With the inner stillness, will come gifts of great value. The future now unfolds. You have traveled far in time. Be the bearer of benevolence and mercy. May Comfort and Joy come to you as you are once again inspired.

Scorpio, the sign with the deepest intensity, a sign of sensitivity, creativity and ultimately transformation, is the bridge between life and death, hope and despair, decadence or transcendence.  It seems to be the sign that confuses humanity the most because of its broad range of possibilities, talents, and purposes.

As a water sign, ruled by the planet Pluto, the ruler of the underworld, it is the most mysterious of all.  It’s celestial influence are the Guardians of Form, who provide for humanity the creativity of Thought Forms, as we know the power of the mind to lead us forward or backward according to our desires. ”I desire” is the statement attached to Scorpio.

Scorpio has three symbols, demonstrating its immense and diverse capabilities.  The first symbol is the scorpion, which can inflict pain, and even death, with its sting.  Translated into human dynamics, it can be the person who seeks revenge, can willingly cause damage, be ruthless, and show no remorse for its conduct or the pain inflicted.  Often this person turns to the darker side of life, often attracted to additions, criminal tendencies, and an unforgiving nature.

The second symbol is the Phoenix, the mystical bird (or person) who can transform almost in front of our eyes from sadness to joy, from sickness to health, from darkness to light.  This type of person we see often in our world as humanity is beset by its huge problems which cry out for solutions and remedies. These people are often mentally brilliant, using their sharp intellect and intuition to cut to the heart of a problem, discern what is hidden, and generously help, heal, and bring the return of encouragement where others have fallen into despair and hopelessness.  They are often in the medical and healing professions, the law, police, undercover and detective work, willing to work until a situation is resolved, revealed, and transformed.  Idealistic, and with great inner resources of emotional strength, they can persist until the victory has been achieved. Philosophers, teachers, scientists, doctors, nurses, artists, parents, those whose time, effort, intellect, monetary resources have been directed to become humanitarians are in the Phoenix category.

Scorpio is one of the signs of money, wealth, and power–issues which humanity struggles to acquire and to understand, and how to use these talents more wisely as we move forward thru vast shifts.  The sign of birth, death, sexuality, and the changes we see in our world that has often been hidden in secrecy, fear, or ignorance.  We learn through experience the pitfalls and triumphs of personal energy, and the power which can be used for good or ill.

The third symbol is the eagle—the mighty bird (or person) who sees the greater whole from the highest perspective with wisdom, compassion, and forgiveness.  We can think of great heroes, male and female, who have sacrificed themselves for a noble cause, whose purpose is not for themselves alone, but for the greater good.  To achieve this exalted level of vision and perspective, many lifetimes of service have been consciously developed. Ultimately, their gifts, talents, and minds are disciplined to a refined degree and their lives uplift the human condition.  Admiration, respect, and devotion from humanity are the end results, not always recognized in the lifetime in which they live.

In this time of transformation in every area of human endeavor and life, we need the wisdom of every sign.  We look to Scorpio to bring about the healing necessary between religions, ideologies, cultures, genders, races, health and wealth.  A mighty, noble, demanding task.  Bring forth Scorpio, and be transformed.

As humanity passes through the seasonal doorway of the Fall Equinox, we enter into the transitional sign of Libra, ruled by the planet Venus, guardian of  Justice, culture, beauty, friendship, love, and the values which shape us into conscious beings. Libra is the sign that is the bridge from summer into the Season of Fall. Fall is the domain of Archangel Michael from the equinox to Winter Solstice. Archangel Michael is the mighty force of justice and courage  in the midst of world chaos and personal inadequacies and fear.

These two forces of light, Venus and Archangel Michael, work together to inspire humanity to not settle for the status quo, but to see beyond the ordinary, which we often settle for, to values which lift our hearts, infuse us with courage,  and inspire us to be better human beings. Archangel Michael awakens the memory that we can strive to attain the awareness that we are all in this situation together, and to develop new and sustainable goals, consistent with the  wisdom that each of us is a spiritual being experiencing life in a human body on planet Earth.

We know from the conditions of the present world, that humanity has forgotten its divine heritage. We have chosen, or permitted, the course of life to be diverted to materialism, the love of power, the lure of greed. Daily we see, read, and experience the results of these annihilating qualities. What we sometimes do not see, is also the power of Venus and Archangel Michael to awaken individuals, and groups, to set a course to lead us from darkness to light, from falsehood to truth in these uncertain times. We can do this. We can find the courage to live more intelligently.

The glyph for Libra is the scales of Justice, held by a blindfolded human. At this time in human history, the two arms of the scales are unequal. That is the task of humanity, to bring them into balance, to open human eyes to injustice and then to become compassionate as we acknowledge the current sufferings of the family of humanity.

“Courage is a must for the spiritual aspirant. Courage builds the heart center which can anchor the positive energies of the soul in the face of the just or the unjust,” a quote from a spiritual author in today’s world.

As an intelligent and creative air sign, Libra’s gifts for communication and social justice can lead us towards greater goals. As we increase compassion, and rebuild communities and culture which uplifts and inspires with beauty and functionality, we will be expanding into higher levels of consciousness which we will love. The future is in our hands. We are both challenged and blessed to be at a time of immense crisis leading to the greatest possible change in thousands of years. Invoke the courage of Archangel Michael, the wisdom of Venus, and live enlightened lives.

Full Moon in the Sign of Virgo

The summer sun is beginning to set earlier as the days slowly become shorter.

We know that we are in the transition period between summer and fall. The sign of these happenings is the feminine sign of VIRGO, now recognized as one of the signs of the DIVINE FEMININE. Transitions carry us from one stage of awareness to the next, just as we are steadily progressing towards new understanding of the roles of masculine and feminine.

In times past, this gentle sign was sadly maligned as were all the earth and water signs because they are the holders of softer, “female” responses of love, comfort, empathy and beauty in a very male-oriented world. But times
are rapidly changing as we shift our consciousness from the Piscean Age of authority, war, aggression, and death to the advancing Age of Aquarius, the age of change, freedom, and equality.

At long last, the other half of humanity, WOMAN, is taking her place in world affairs. The sign of Virgo is also emerging as a bearer of potent feminine power. Virgo is guided by the planet of mind, information, and intelligence,
MERCURY. No longer is Virgo viewed only as only a perfectionist, and critical, but her inspirational side is emerging with power and influence.

The names of the Divine Feminine emerge from the ancient past into the emerging future. She has walked the path of humanity from its beginning as Sophia, as Shekinah, the names given to the feminine face of God, eventually
long forgotten and ridiculed. Isis became the beloved Mother Figure who guided humanity for 10,000 (or more) years, as well as Ishtar. In time the Goddess was honored as the creator long before the advent of traditional religions. The world of women has always clung to the vision of a feminine deity who would honor and love them thru their severe deprivations and times of scorn and disrespect. Eventually, as the Goddess tradition was suppressed in Western religions, the figure of Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, the mother of Jesus, became the role of mediator and benefactor. For Divine Mary has grown an overwhelming surge of power that continues into the present time.

In every culture, in every religion, on every continent there has been a feminine figure who is beloved, seen as advocate, and mediator between heaven and earth. In the East, emerged Kuan Yen, the Goddess of Love and Mercy who
as the Boddhisattva, will remain available to all humanity until each one has developed into a conscious being, when love has replaced fear, and humanity has learned compassion for others as well as self.

In VIRGO, especially at the Full Moon, these Divine Feminine beings are even more available to humanity. The outpouring of love, mercy, service to all, compassion, and healing overflow to the human family, regardless of place,
gender, religion, or understanding. As WOMEN emerge into every sector of life with intelligence and willingness, the world is slowly but surely changing and mutating onto a new form.

During the Full Moon of VIRGO, and throughout the entire sign, the abundance that the feminine brings of fruitfulness and harvesting, of beauty and loving kindness is waiting to be accepted into our hearts, minds, and consciousness.

The task of restoring women to full partnership continues to be a work in progress throughout our world. But signs of progress and recovery are there for us to see. The FEMININE is being restored, once again recognized. VIRGO’S purposes are being transformed to be honored and respected for her careful, and dedicated love and service.

In time, male and female will stand as equals in mind, body, and spirit. Our actions of love, compassion, and kindness will transform the suffering world into a fruitful garden of joy, long predicted for humanity, but long forgotten
in this ages that have passed.

Be an ardent participant in the changing of our consciousness to include the feminine and the masculine in equality and freedom. Be of good heart and kind mind always.
